LA SantaCon 2014

I had heard about this event a few years ago, but this was my first year attending. SantaCon is pretty much a bunch of people dressed like Santa or any other Holiday related figures and they travel to bars around downtown LA via Metro and on foot. An event like this would require a Metro tap card and a Day Pass. I’m not sure how Santacon started, but my friend discovered a bunch of Santas one day and he decided to see what was going on. After he left to get a shot that he needed, he came back and decided to hang out with them for the rest of the day. Then, he wrote about it on Facebook. That’s how I found out.

We started off the day at The Cat and Fiddle in Hollywood. There were a lot of Santas there. It also happens to be the last few days before it closes down. The next location was the 3Dog Cantina which is also in Hollywood. It was really crowded and getting through was a challenge, but they did have nice big windows that were open so that we could sit on the window sills.

The next location was Barnsdall Art Park. There were activities such as frisbees, snowballs, and even Santa Licenses. I hope to get mine soon.

Our next destination was Rockwell. It was a nice location with heat lamps since it was pretty cold. Luckily though, I was wearing my Vash The Stampede cosplay from Trigun, which kept me warm. I forgot to mention, I was Santa Vash since I didn’t have anything holiday related to wear. I did have a Santa hat though.

There was another place that we migrated to, but they wouldn’t allow anyone with any kind of bags, so instead many of the Santas went to Pershing Square where people wanted photos of us. Someone even wanted a big group photo of us and he called me “Trigun Santa”, which I liked.

After hanging around there for a bit, we walked to the Continental. This place was quite fun. It was nice to have nice couches to sit down, since we did plenty of walking.

I had a blast at this event and I would love to attend it next year!
